2 Things To Do To Break Into Voice Work

Education & Development Blog

If you have a repertoire of different voices that you can do, or you have been told that you have a great voice, you may want to think about doing something like voiceover or voice acting work. Voice acting and voice over work covers a lot of things. You can get work in everything from commercials to making voices for toys. There are many things that you can do once you get started. Getting started can be the difficult part. Just being able to do a lot of voices or having the perfect voice for radio doesn't mean that you are going to automatically get jobs. So, how can you get started doing this work?

Practice

You are going to have to do a lot of practice before you even get your first job. There are a lot of places that you can practice, including amateur theater in your area. Even though voice actors are generally not seen on commercials or the other things, you are still trying to create a believable character, even if the character is just dependable narrator. Working in the theater will help you learn to emote. You can also practice with scripts. Ask friends to write scripts that you can read and work on sounding realistic and not flat. You should record your practice sessions so that you can play them back to hear where you may need to put in some extra work. You can also look for a voice coach who can help you with this.

Produce Demos

When it comes time to look for jobs, you want to be able to give prospective employers examples of your work or what you can do. But you don't want to distract them with things that aren't appropriate for the job they are offering. This means that you need to come up with a wide variety of demos. For example, if you want to do commercials and animated work, then you would make two separate demos, one for commercials and one for animation. You may want to even break your demos down further. For example, you may want to have demos for more serious commercials, such as medical commercials, and demos for ones that are more light-hearted. That will demonstrate your range.

Getting started in voice work can be slow, but if you are persistent, you can do it. You can eventually be able to hear your voice in a wide variety of places. Contact a company like Showbiz Trades to learn more.

Every Child Has Unlimited Academic Potential

I have been a volunteer tutor for over a decade now, and the only thing I dislike about it is the fact that I simply don't have the ability to help every child in the nation who is struggling in the classroom! During my time tutoring and working with many children, I have learned a lot about why children struggle in class and how to overcome those struggles. To help children and parents who I cannot tutor in person, I decided to create a blog to share my tips with parents whose children are not excelling in school. I first want to debunk the myth that the grades a children receives in class are solely dependent on their IQs. Every child truly has unlimited academic potential!
